about temmon

Temmon is the virtual home of Terje Berg; technology advisor, lecturer and future forecaster.

the Mission

My mission is to lay the foundation needed to exceed your next expectations; to cross the next boundary; to tear down the next wall.

therefor …

  • I'm on constant lookout for the next breaking trends
  • I work with the best to make them—and me— even better
  • I demand the best from myself, my network, and my clients
  • I supply questions, tools, knowhow and implementation
  • I have exciting ideas, and to work with me is exciting

the name

Temmon might seem like—and probably is—a strange name for a company. But there is a reason for it's use; mainly that it gives you a couple of clues to the man behind it ...

clue 1: japanese

The word “temmon” has it's basis in the japanese word temmongaku (see below). This tells you about my connection to Japan. Mostly through my many years spent learning and teaching martial arts (many of them japanese in origin). Oriental philosophies (mainly zen and taoism) and books (see sidebar) also strengthens this connection.

clue 2: astronomy

Temmongaku is japanese for “astronomy”, and astronomy is the basis for my scientific education. Specifically studies in cosmology, and the nature of time. Although it's been years since this was my main focus, I still use my knowledge to teach young schoolchildren (ages 6–9) about the wonders of the universe whenever I get the chance.

extra clue: the symbols

The way the japanese (and chinese) write tends to give extra meaning to whatever the words are communicating. In my case, the word temmon consists of the kanji (symbols) for ten and mon:

ten

ten

can mean sky, heavens, celestial sphere, destiny

mon

mon

can mean crest, figures, text

Or like I like to say it:
Understanding what is written in the heavens; forecasting the future

oriental strategy

If you're interested in oriental philosophy and strategy, there are a couple of books that should be within arms reach in your office:

Tao Te Ching (The Book of the Way); attributed to the chinese scholar Lao-tzu.
Read it or buy it.

Go Rin No Sho (A Book of Five Rings); attributed to the japanese master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.
Read it or buy it.

The Art of War; attributed to the chinese general Sun-tzu.
Read it or buy it.

temmon: Monitoring technological driving forces.
