frequently asked questions

you say you're asking questions?

I do. A lot. To my mind, asking the right questions clearly outvalues finding the “correct answers”.

I don't believe in The Way when it comes to long term strategy development. There is no such thing as a best practice for all to follow. What might be perfect for my organisation, will probably not suit yours.

My services (and methods) reflect this.

I always ask—and ask again—what your challenge is, and when I'm confident that the core to your questions have been found, we can start plotting the course to a solution, based on my services, my methods, and my network.

I believe in building the foundation for continued success. I keep an eye one what drives change and let you get in a position to prosper from that knowledge; to be the early—profitable—adopter.

I told you about the Net in 89.
I told you about nanotechnologies in 95.

What will I tell you tomorrow?

what tools do you use, if any?

All my services are based on the methodic principles inherent in

  • systems thinking
  • future studies, and
  • scenariolearning

These principles are then used in five different settings, depending on who you are:

  • technology companies
  • industrial companies
  • investors
  • branch organisations
  • political organisations

Given these, some of the things I focus on are

  • technological status
putting weight on how things are being done or made from a scientific point of view
  • industrial consequence
looking at how existing organisations are influenced by the technological changes
  • market analysis
looking at the effects of change in view of how an existing company can find niches to be successful in
  • business opportunities
focusing on changes in the economic value chains that arises out of new paradigms
  • political, societal, and ethical consequences
especially in view of the latter years' accelerating technologies

And as a base for all this, I help you embrace uncertainty and incorporate it into all strategy work, never shying away from even the most disturbing "What if's ... "

who can testify that you know what you're talking about?

Have a look at the services section. In the sidebars you'll find some testimonials. Have a look at those. If you need others, don't hesitate to ask. I'll even tell you about the few that haven't been entirely positive ...

more questions

Do you have other questions you'd like to have answered?

By all means ASK, and I'll do my best to answer them.
